Indian Electronic Travel Authority (India e-visa)
Indian E-VISA is an electronically issued travel authority to enter India to international Traveler(s) whose objective of visiting India is recreation, sight seeing, casual visit to meet friends or relatives, tourism, short duration medical treatment or casual business visit.
E-visa is the fastest, low cost alternative to the regular stamped-visa.
E-tourist visa is valid for 1 month for double entry, 1 year or 5 years for multiple entries.
E-business visa is valid for 1 year, multiple entries for stay maximum 180 days upon entry.
E-medical visa is valid for 3 entries, 60 days maximum stay upon entry. A maximum of 2 e-visas can be issued for a traveler within 1 year (Jan- Dec).
E-conference visa is valid for single entry for maximum stay of 30 days.
E-tourist visa – for traveler(s) whose purpose is for:
- Recreation/sight seeing
- Meeting friends/relatives
- Short term yoga program
E-medical visa – is for those traveler(s) whose purpose is to seek short duration medical treatment.
E-business visa – for traveler(s) whose purpose is for:
- To set up industrial/business venture
- Sale/purchase/trade
- To attend technical/business meetings
- To recruit manpower
- Participation in exhibitions, business/trade fairs
- Expert/specialist in connection with an ongoing project
- Conducting tours
- To deliver lecture/s under Global Initiative for Academic Networks (GIAN)
Conference e-visa –
- for those attending attending a Government Sponsored Conference
- Privately sponsored or held conferences do not qualify for an e-Conference Visa you must apply for a traditional stamped visa.
The Indian e-visa is valid for travelers in 28 international airports and 5 designated seaports. E-visa is not valid for Private Planes.

Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Calicut, Chennai, Chandigarh, Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Gaya, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Port Blair, Tiruchirapalli, Trichy, Trivandrum, Varanasi, and Visakhapatnam.
Seaports: Cochin, Goa, Mangalore, Mumbai and Chennai.

- Digital photo in JPG format, (must be passport sized photo or 2×2 size, in white background, not wearing eyeglasses, no shadow on the face)
- Copy of passport data page in PDF format. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in India and must have at least 2 blank visa pages.
- If applying for e-business visa, a scanned copy of applicant’s business card in PDF format.

Important Instructions:
- Passport must be be valid for at least six months from the date of arrival in India and should have at least two blank visa pages for stamping by the Immigration Officer.
- Applicants must apply at least 4 days in advance of the arrival date within a window of not less than 120 days.
- e-Visa cannot be extended, non-convertible and not valid for visiting Protected/Restricted Cantonment Areas.
- A of copy of Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is required to be carried at the time of travel.
- As soon as the applicant arrives in India, biometric details of the applicant will be mandatorily captured at Immigration.
- Nationals of Yellow Fever affected countries must carry a yellow fever vaccination card at the time of arrival in India, otherwise they may be quarantined for up to 6 days upon arrival in India. See Yellow Fever countries here.
- Applicants must arrive using the same passport they used to apply for the e-Visa. Entry will be allowed into India on the new passport even if the old e-visa is issued on the old passport, however, both passports must be carried to show the valid e-visa in the old passport.
