An electronic visa (e-visa) or e-travel authorization is the permission to enter Uganda.  All persons intending to enter Uganda for tourism, business, study, visit, medical purpose are required to apply and obtain an e-visa.

Effective July 1, 2016, Uganda visa on arrival option has officially ended.

Effective April 10, 2018, the Embassy of Uganda stopped issuing regular stamped visa (or manually processed visa stamped on passport).  The Government of Uganda adopted the e-visa system (electronic visa) in 2017 for those who wish to travel to Uganda.

What is East Africa Tourist Visa?

A foreigner who wants to visit simultaneously the Republic of Uganda, Republic of Kenya and Republic of Rwanda for tourism. An East Africa Tourist Visa is multiple entries within the three countries and shall be valid for 90 days.

Process

Application will be reviewed by the Immigration Officer.  Once there is a decision, it will will be sent electronically through the email provided by the applicant.

If approved, an approval letter or travel authorization will be sent as an attachment to the email provided.  It must be printed and present it at the port of entry.  

This travel authorization does not guarantee entry into Uganda. Travelers will be subjected to secondary verification where necessary before personalization.

Present a valid travel document of not less than 6 months validity to the Immigration officer at the port of entry.

Important Instructions:

  • The Uganda Tourist e-Visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issue.

  • The length of stay is 90 days Total, and it is valid for one Single Entry.

  • East Africa Tourist visa is valid for 3 months, multiple entries, 90 days maximum stay (valid for Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda countries only).
  • The applicant must be outside the Republic of Uganda at the time of application.

  • The applicant must not have any other current Uganda visa.

  • Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months upon entry to Uganda and should have at least 1 blank visa page available for the Immigration Officials to stamp your visa into your passport.

  • This visa cannot be changed to a work visa while inside the Republic of Uganda.

  • You are required to print and carry this travel authorization with you, as you will be required to present it at the point of entry.

  • The applicant must arrive with the same passport with which they applied for the Tourist e-Visa.
